Households across Tendring will shortly receive letters encouraging them to confirm details of electors living at the address.
Letters will start to land on doormats this week listing those eligible to vote at the address; and reminding those who are not detailed to register so they can have their say at upcoming elections in May.
The Household Notification Letter also sets out if people have a postal or proxy vote, and again provides details of how to apply should electors which to use these methods of voting.
Legislation passed last year introduced a requirement for voter ID, and voters are encouraged to check now where their ID is. Anyone who does not have a valid form of photo ID can apply for a VAC instead.
People have until 17 April to register to vote; 18 April to apply for a postal vote; and 25 April to apply for a proxy vote, and for a VAC.
