Leisure and hospitality businesses can apply now for further grants following the announcement of additional financial support.
The Government said last month it would provide extra Covid-19 support for the sector due to the impact of the Omicron wave.
One-off grants of up to £6,000 are available, depending on the rateable value of the premises.
Eligible businesses must apply for the grant support by midnight on 13 February, and can do so through www.tendringdc.gov.uk.
Carlo Guglielmi, Tendring District Council (TDC) Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Finance, encouraged businesses to apply quickly.
“Businesses have had a really tough time during the pandemic, and while we have avoided further lockdowns we know that both the additional restrictions and concern about spending Christmas with our families, meant many in this sector struggled at the end of last year,” Cllr Guglielmi said.
“We have now received the Government guidance on this scheme, and with a short deadline to hand the money out, so I’d urge all eligible businesses to apply as soon as possible.”
To qualify businesses must fall within the hospitality and leisure sector, which includes short-term let accommodation. They must have been trading on 30 December 2021, and must be registered for business rates (even if they are exempt or fully-discounted).
It had been hoped businesses who had previously received money under the Hospitality and Leisure Grant Scheme would not need to complete a full application again – however, Government guidance stipulates that due to a change on the qualifying criteria all businesses must apply again.

TDC is still considering how to use the additional funding it received through the Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) scheme to best help local businesses, and further information will be added to the website once a scheme has been devised.
